Who provides good web hosting for mid-sized businesses at a fair cost?

My boss is looking for an alternative in web-hosting to Bellsouth. We are currently paying over $1000 / MO. (although this DOES include listing on their sites). Please give examples of not only web hosting- but also how to drive traffic TO our site (like we are told is being done for us now). Thanks in advance!!

Quality hosting should not cost that much. Here is a guide to getting started: http://www.richkahmer.com/build-a-websit...

Also you ask about SEO (driving traffic to your site)

Here are a couple high quality packages that will help:

I can highly recommend the company I am using, called Sitesell. This is the very first time I have ever built a website, so I needed a company who could take me by the hand, step by step!

I have nothing but praise for them! They make EVERYTHING so easy! They supply all of the online training, simple (yet incredibly sophisticated tools) and excellent support.

The cost is just $299 (鎷?70) per year. That includes all of the above plus domain registration. They even supply the templates for designing your site! And don%26#039;t worry about html coding or other techy stuff as that%26#039;s all taken care of for you!

My site is only 9 months old. It is already very highly ranked by the major search engines and is attracting up to 1000 visitors a day! Plus it generates an income which not only covers the costs, but actually shows a healthy profit!

Other Replys:I think you should be careful when choosing a web host. If you are looking to host critical information and you can not afford to be down, then do not let the price dictate your choice of web host. The price will always depend on your hosting needs. For example if you need lots of traffic you need to consider a http://www.hostwire.com/hosting/dedicate... dedicated server with un-metered bandwidth. There is too many factors that affect the price of your hosting, I would say start by writing down your expectations and then start researching the hosting companies. Best way to start would be by asking friends and business partners where they host and what their experience is.

I would say that now a days you can get a decent dedicated server from $149 to $299

Other Replys:I have used Hostway http://www.hostway.com and they have very good plans and moderately priced. They offer a number of web hosting plans with very generous bandwidths http://www.hostway.com/web-hosting/index... - and their upper level plans even include unlimited bandwidth, perfect for a site that you think will receive a lot of traffic. Best of all, you can talk to a technical support person, which I think is extremely important in choosing a web hosting company

However, I suggest you compare various web hosting by going to hosting comparison sites such as

As for getting traffic to your site, you can try pay per click programs such as Google Adwords http://www.google.com/adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com 閳?though the key is to carefully track your ROI and which keywords actually perform well

Here are some shoestring marketing ideas that can help you get the visitors you need at the least cost possible:

1. Create the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement - if visitors love your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.

2. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Viral marketing is very important -- and easy to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools. Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more - that%26#039;s additional traffic that you get for FREE!

Big Nose Bird Recommend this Site http://bignosebird.com/carchive/birdcast...

CGI Resource Index http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_an...

Hostscripts http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_an...

3. Rank well in the search engines (organic search results, not the pay per click). SEs can be a big source of traffic. The key is to create the best content in your niche. If you have good content, other websites will gladly link to you and offer your site as a resource to their audience. Check the on-page factors and be sure to get linked from authority sites in your topic area.

4. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.

5. Submit articles. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.

Here is a comprehensive list of where to submit your articles http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=...

6. Post a link to your site for free where it is allowed (always read the Terms of Use). Examples are:

Other Replys:I have found that the best way to host a proffesional looking site would be through Webstarts. They offer great support, and they have a unique drag and drop tool that allows you to do almost anything with your site with the click of a button. And with Webstarts you can have little to no knowledge of how to build a website and it will still turn out proffesional looking, also on the site it helps you get traffic through Google, Yahoo, Msn, etc....

Here Is The Link

http://WebStarts.com

Other Replys:That%26#039;s pretty expensive just for hosting and listing your site on their sites. You can get cheaper hosting without sacrificing the uptime though. Pretty much all of the hosting sites have uptimes in the upper 90th percentile unless it%26#039;s free ad supported hosting or they are hosting with a server from their basement. I recommend http://www.dakotawebhosting.com

As far as driving traffic to your site you should probably talk to a professional web development/marketing firm as they can probably come up with things specific to your company such as working with vendors and suppliers in your industry to link to your site.

Other Replys:Like Robert, I use Sitesell.

It is so much more than hosting. The integrated system allows you to do all the things you need to do to build a powerful internet presence. I have two sites using this system.

Since you already have an established site, I suggest you set up a question-answering session with one of their staff. Both are successful users, but more importantly, they will know the best way to match your needs with their services.

Two different men may answer your call: Jim and Judd. If you get Jim, tell him Audrey sent you. (You could tell Judd, too, but he hasn%26#039;t met me. Jim has.)

You can set up a no obligation call at

http://questions.inspected4u.com

PS, the Ken you hear won%26#039;t answer you directly. He%26#039;s the company president. But he does frequent the private forum for his clients and often gets directly involved in helping us move our businesses forward.

Hope this helps.

Other Replys:Why build a build a website when you can build a Business?

I hate disappointing you but 99% of all e commerce websites fail. However please read this I did not said this to earn the 2 points:-) There is only 1 option so you can succeed and I%26#039;ll have to repeat this one more time so you can sink this in, THERE IS ONLY 1 option to succeed with e commerce these days.....

That is called site build it. These days building a e commerce website(layout, content etc.) is not hard. There are many hosts and programs that allow you to build magnificent websites however the problem why 99% bussiness fail is because they don%26#039;t bring enough traffic to generate sells. Why go to your website when I can buy the same products on Amazon or other more reputable stores? The solution is use site build it!

So what exactly is Site Build It.

This is a host like no other. As a matter of fact he doesn%26#039;t even say the bandwidth and space that he offers in his home page. Why? That ain%26#039;t important. I used site build it to build my website so I can explain many tools it has.

It has a tool like no other. It actually tells the competition of key words in a search engine according to popularity and competition with others. It helps you market your site and it makes your content presell.

There are 4 basic steps to making money with websites

Content/Traffic/Presell/Moneti...

Site Build it is the only tool that helps you follow these steps. (There is where I got these steps and they work experience right here.)

P.s. Please 10 points. And check it out you%26#039;ll love it.

Other Replys:I highly recommend :

http://secure.hostgator.com/cgi-bin/affi...

I have 15 sites hosted with them all under 1 plan. 99.9% uptime guarantee and their customer support is amazing.

You are way over paying for hosting, if you switch you can use that money you will be saving to launch some major advertising.

There are many ways to advertise both online and offline, Radio,TV, Small newspaper ads, such as shopper or penny savors. Google, Yahoo PPC, the list goes on.

I have found that companies claiming to Host and advertise don%26#039;t often deliver on both. I would use seperate companies for your hosting and advertising.

Switch your hosts to get your costs down and then research effective advertising.

Good Luck!

Other Replys:check this site, it can search for a hosting provider as per your preference. http://www.immed8.com
